Microsoft Mail / Outlook / Outlook Express

Outlook is Microsoft's email client, and comes with various versions of Windows. Because it is known for having compatibility and security problems, Koumbit strongly recommends using Thunderbird, an excellent quality free and open source option made by the same team as Firefox.

Configuration

Before you configure Outlook to access an email account, the email account needs to be exist already. If it doesn't already exist here is what to do : To create the email in a Koumbit hosting account, log into the AlternC interface at bureau.koumbit.net. If you want to create an email account called something@example.com, click on 'example.com' in the left-hand menu, in the 'Mailboxes' section. Then click 'Add an email to example.com.' Unless you are simply creating a redirection towards another email address, check the box for 'Is it a POP account?'.

Now, here is how to configure Outlook for an (existing) email account hosted at Koumbit:

In the 'Internet E-mail Setting' window, some will need to click on 'More settings' to activate authentification of smtp. Use the same settings as the incoming mail server.
